Home of the RMHS Football Grizzlies!
Game 1 Win Over Meridian 35-7
The Rocky Mountain Grizzlies took to the field and showed their dominance for the opening game of the season. A win of 35-7 over Meridian has put the rest of the division teams on notice.
In a game marked by turnovers and personal fouls, the RMHS Grizzlies were not phased. Meridian took the opening kickoff, but then went backwards for maybe 40yards. They then punted the ball back, but basically Rocky Mountain never let them get into the game.
RMHS took a 7-0 lead afer the first quarter. It could have been more of a lead, but as the Grizzlies approached the goal line they commited one of their five fumbles.
Not to be deterred, on their first possession of the second quarter, the Grizz make a quick strike of about 75yards, to take the score to 14-0. Another touchdown during the quarter brought the score up to 21-0. Again, it could have been even more of a lead, but as the Grizzlies approached the goal line they got intercepted.
A double personal foul at the end of the second quarter allowed Meridian to start the third quarter by kicking off from the RMHS 30-yard line. The likely scenario of kicking it into the endzone happened and RMHS took over. A touchdown during the quarter brought the score to 28-0 at the end of the third quarter.
A fumble by RMHS with about 9:00 left in the fourth quarter allowed Meridian to score their only touchdown of the game. On the pursuant kickoff the Grizzlies made a statement drive. With about 8:00 showing on the clock, holding a 3-touchdown lead, the Grizzlies needed to run time off the clock. Taking the ball inside their own 20-yard line, the Grizzlies strung together an impressive run-only, 80-yard, 7:00 minute touchdown drive to seal the game 35-7.
An impressive show of strength from our Rocky Grizzlies in their opening win!
